fassbar (tangible) was created through an exploration of the movements of our bodies. Sign language enables communication through movement and thus captures the world in a collection of explicit gestures. Like every language, it varies from country to country. More than 200 sign languages therefore exist worldwide. The four objects visualise the different gestures of the term "vase" in German, English, French and Spanish. They encourage people to engage with sign language(s) and create access. The movement becomes a form, the sign becomes an object. Visual perception is transferred to the haptic senses. The gesture becomes tangible. The design concept was selected for the shortlist of the one&twenty competition 2022.
